The Gulf states have been added to the Philippine Green List of countries where fully vaccinated travelers, Filipino workers abroad, do not have to undergo mandatory five-day quarantine.
According to Arab News, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, as well as India, Japan and Pakistan, have been targeted by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), the government body dealing with the Corona virus in the Philippines. Also included in the green list which will be applicable from 16 to 30 November
The IATF also approved a recommendation to recognize and accept vaccination certificates from several countries, including Australia, Georgia, India, the United Kingdom and Samoa.
It should be noted that Filipino workers working in the Gulf countries are urging the Philippine authorities to add their host states to the Green Travel list in time for the Christmas and New Year holidays.
Before being included in the Philippine Green List of Gulf countries, fully vaccinated individuals must stay in a hotel or quarantine facility until a negative polymerase chain reaction test is taken on the fifth day of their arrival. After that they had to go through home quarantine till their 10th day.
The announcement was "definitely" good news for Filipinos, said Shiloh, a facilities supervisor in Abu Dhabi. "I hope the Green List category will be extended to Christmas and New Year," he added.
